Is Excel actually bad for construction estimating?
No. Excel is flexible, familiar, inexpensive, and genuinely good at building estimates. The problem appears when the estimate becomes the starting point for several other workflows and each handoff requires another copy, export, or re-entry.
What does switching actually cost us?
The biggest cost is changing the workflow your team already knows. Buildiante does not require you to migrate an old Buildiante installation or abandon your completed projects. The practical switching point is the next new estimate.
Can we import our existing spreadsheet BOQs?
Not yet. There is no spreadsheet import tooling in Phase 1. Existing completed projects can remain where they are; the practical starting point is a new estimate.
Our estimators are fast in Excel. Will Buildiante slow them down?
The first estimate may feel slower while the team learns a structured workflow. The benefit comes from what happens afterward: less re-entry into scheduling, tendering, procurement, and fewer questions about which version is current.
What happens to our data if we stop using Buildiante?
BOQs can be exported to PDF and Excel today, so your project numbers are not locked into a format only Buildiante can read.
